Data protection in the production plant construction with the DSM Galaxy® "G6" control cabinet system
The current Galaxy® "G6" control cabinet system is designed specially for the requirements pertaining in the plant and machine construction. The industrial CPU board with a fast Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor operating at 2.16 GHz clock rate and fitted with up to 4 GB DDR2 RAM ensures the adequate computer power in the system. The field of application for the Galaxy "G6" ranges from the closed-loop control and monitoring of production plants through to the control of various automation processes.
The compact system design of 149 x 280 x 260 mm ensures a high degree of integration capabilities. Because the drives and also the connections are located on the front side, the industrial computer proves itself to be particularly easily accessible. This provides another advantage during operation and for the maintenance. The Galaxy® system also has four free PCI slots or three free PCI slots and a PCI Express x1 slot for accepting a wide range of long or short plug-in cards. This allows the computer to be expanded with common supplementary modules for CAN bus, field bus (LON, PROFIBUS, Interbus) and with customer-specific controller cards.
In order to reliably save data, in particular, for industrial plants, the current Galaxy® "G6" control cabinet system is equipped with a special 3.5" removable mounting frame with integrated RAID controller and two 2.5" SATA hard disk drives for 24/7 operation. Thanks to its electromagnetic compatibility, the modular-constructed control cabinet system can also be used in harsh industrial environments. It is also resistant to shock and vibrations.
An internal 180 W power pack with 230V input voltage, or optionally a 200 W power pack, with +24 V DC AC input voltage supplies the power. As an option, a Wireless LAN connection is available so that the individual systems in the machine park can be controlled easily by a wireless transmission. Disk-on-Modules or Compact Flash Modules can be used for additional storage.
The continuous monitoring with the DSMP® Condition Monitoring Software allows the Galaxy® control cabinet system to be permanently checked for precisely defined operating parameters, such as processor temperature, fan speeds and hard disk status. This detects early any possible faults in the hardware or software and the technician can initiate appropriate measures. The advantage of the DSMP® software makes itself apparent in the enormous cost saving for the avoidance of downtimes in production plants with the DSM control cabinet PC.
