DSM Computer extends its 5.25" embedded controller family with Intel Pentium M / Celeron M version The recently presented "PM-51" embedded controller from DSM Computer has been designed for the Intel processors Pentium M / Celeron M with a clock frequency of up to 2.0 GHz. The board is available in the 5.25" format (203 x 146 mm). The main memory can be expanded up to a maximum of 2 GB RAM. Two DDR slots, which can each take 32 to a maximum of 1024 MB modules (PC200/266/333), have been incorporated for this. The Intel 855GME chipset on the board supports a 400 MHz system bus. The integrated Intel 855GME VGA with CRT and LVDS interface (24-bit) provides 64 MB shared memory and TMDS support. The board is therefore especially suited for use in embedded applications through to dual display applications. The embedded controller is equipped with a number of different interfaces. In addition to four USB 2.0 ports, there are two serial RS232 outputs, a serial port, which can be set to RS232/422/485, and an ECP/EPP bidirectional parallel interface. Two PCI bus interfaces, a PCI slot with 32-bit and a mini PCI slot support additional plug-in cards. An internal Intel ICH4 Ethernet controller is provided for 10 Base-T or 100 Base-TX LAN networks and allows full duplex operation via an RJ45 port. An integrated Intel ICH4 3D audio controller and an AC’97 Codec provide the optimum audio sound. Up to four enhanced IDE drives and a floppy disk drive with 360 KB, 720 KB, 1.44 MB, 1.2 MB or 2.88 MB capacity can be connected to the board. A CompactFlash module can be directly plugged in via an internal IDE2 slave channel socket. This enables systems without revolving mass memories to be implemented, which are especially required for hostile industrial environments. The "PM-51" has a real-time clock and a calendar with battery backup. The integrated watchdog timer can be set for periods of 1 to 255 seconds or minutes. The system hardware monitor monitors the voltage, fan and temperature. As the system power loss of approx. 15 W is exceptionally low, the module can be operated within the specified temperature range of 0 to 60°C with a small fan.
