DSM Computer presents its first PCI Express 1.3 industrial slot CPU card With the PICMG 1.3 specification, the serial PCI Express technology has now also appeared in systems with slot CPUs on passive motherboards. One PCI Express x16 and four PCI Express x1 interfaces in accordance with the PICMG 1.3 standard provide an extremely high data transmission rate of 4 GB/s on the "96M4311o" industrial slot CPU card, recently presented by DSM Computer at the SPS/IPC/Drives 2005 trade fair. With this, high-speed graphics cards for image processing can now also be integrated effortlessly in passive backplanes. There are also four traditional PCI connections via the backplane to ensure downward compatibility. Based on the Intel processors Pentium M / Celeron M with optionally 533 or 400 MHz front-side bus, the board has a high computing performance and at the same time a low power loss. The main memory can be expanded to a maximum of 2 GB. Two 200-pin SODIMM sockets are available for plugging in the DDR2 533 / 400 SDRAMs. Excellent picture quality is achieved with the Graphics Media Accelerator GMA-900 integrated in the Intel 915GM chipset with shared memory up to 224 MB (dynamic) or up to 128 MB static. The display resolution is up to 2048 x 1536 pixels with a 85 MHz refresh rate. CRT and LVDS panel driver capability as well as a TV output are available. The audio functions are provided by the Intel ICH6 controller and an AC’97 Codec. The slot CPU card has two RJ-45 connectors with LED display for the connection of dual gigabit Ethernet (10 Base-T / 100 Base-TX / 1000 Base-T). In addition to two serial and one parallel interface, there is also an IrDA interface. Eight USB 2.0 ports and eight GPIOs complete the wide selection of input/output options. Two SATA 150 ports are available for high-speed, serial data storage. A solid state disk can be used via a CF socket and two enhanced IDE drives can also be connected. A system hardware monitor controls the fan, temperature and voltage values. There is a watchdog timer on the board, which can be set for periods of 1 to 255 seconds via the software. An ACPI function (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) supplements the integrated Award BIOS. Press Release as Word Document 2005-10-06-en.doc
