DSM Computer AG wins the Industry Award 2008 for the NanoServer® "E8" in the "Electrotechnology" category
DSM wins the Industry Award 2008 for the NanoServer® "E8" in the "Electrotechnology" category. Hereby particularly innovative and technically interesting product solutions are distinguished by industrial manufacturers.
The current NanoServer® "E8" was developed for the extended temperature range from -20° C to +60° C. This makes it ideal for use in extreme and harsh industrial environments. The fan-free Embedded system is based on the AMD® Geode™ LX 800@0,9W processor with the AMD® CS5536 chip set.
The embedded system has an internal mini-PCI slot for optional expansion, for example, with wireless LAN. Furthermore, the computer has an on-board Realtek ALC203 audio controller and an AMD® 2D VGA controller that provides support for CRT and TFT/LVDS LCD. The two 10/100 Mbit LAN interfaces make the "E8" particularly suitable for applications in the network application area.
In particular, the small dimensions of the embedded system (206 x 220 x 52 mm) allow the NanoServer® to perform its processing tasks where traditional industrial systems fail. The solid and high-quality industrial housing also provides a 2.5" hard disk. As for all DSM NanoServer® variants, the integrated hard disks are designed for rugged industrial applications and for 24/7 operation. To connect diskette or CD/DVD-ROM drives, four USB ports (two internal, two external) are integrated; as an option, Disk-on-Module or Compact Flash type II can also be installed. The power supply is provided by either an external power pack, 100-240 V AC or directly from the 24 V DC.
Universal mounting rails for attachment to the floor or walls are supplied with the embedded system. On request, the CE-certified NanoServer® can be supplied in all RAL and NCS colors, and with a customer-specific logo.
