DSM Computer increases system availability of its Embedded NanoServer using monitoring software

All of the embedded systems in DSM Computer’s NanoServer family can now be supplied with PC condition monitoring software that constantly monitors states. This solution, which in the past was only utilized in the case of highly secure applications, means that system availability can be significantly increased, as predictive maintenance is now possible based on continuous system monitoring. Performance of necessary service work during planned downtimes leads to minimization of machine standstill times and thus to considerable costs savings in industrial operations.

The condition monitoring software for industrial PCs means that operating parameters such as for example the processor temperature, supply voltage, fan rotation speed and hard disk state can be continuously monitored and potential disruptions in hardware and software can be identified at an early stage prior to failure. Display of data and logs occurs via standard HTML browsers, for example on a DSM Computer D2 display. In the event of a fault, the service engineer is immediately informed by means of an acoustic or optical warning signal, optionally also by e-mail and SMS and is then in a position to promptly take the appropriate measures to ensure smooth operation. The condition monitoring software runs on Windows 2000/XP/CE.

The embedded systems of the NanoServer family implemented for tough industrial applications feature a high CPU performance on the basis of Intel and VIA processors with a simultaneous low power loss. A wide range of interfaces ensures optimal connection to the external world. As independent small systems, the compact computers are best suited to decentralized use as controller units, measured value servers or communication servers. The maintenance-free NanoServers can also be utilized via a radio connection (WLAN) for remote querying of complex hardware systems.
