DSM Computer delivers NanoServer® and industrial panels with a "rugged" hard disk
DSM Computer AG uses a rugged 2.5" hard disk as standard, not only in all NanoServer®s, but also in P4 and P5 systems.
The hard disk specially designed for the industrial area is suitable for the temperature range from -20° C to +75° C and so also operates reliably at low outside temperatures. Particularly interesting is the specification for the 24x7 operation, i.e. the hard disk can run without interruption around the clock, where, indeed an MTBF of 750,000 hours is reached.
As standard, an 80 GB hard disk is integrated, with other hard disk sizes being available on request. It is equipped with a new ventilation system, special bearings and an optimized read-write head. Consequently, this produces a very robust, high-performance hard disk that is protected against dampness, low air pressure and shock vibration loading. The new bearing design significantly increases the service life, in particular at high temperatures and for continuous operation.
The hard disk can be used very flexibly. For example, it has already been tested during a Mount Everest expedition at extreme altitudes and in rain forests with a relative humidity of 85%.
This makes the DSM systems particularly suitable for use in machine control, for mobile video monitoring systems, in safety-critical applications, in the aerospace industry, and for all other applications for which important data under no circumstances may be lost, even under harsh environmental conditions.
