DSM Computer becomes computer specialist for kiosk and digital signage systems
Just in time for KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2009, DSM Computer AG has augmented its embedded computer systems product portfolio for kiosk and digital signage solutions. In addition to an embedded PC module specially developed for integration in a display monitor, the robust embedded systems of the compact PicoBox and the BookSize family can be used as external display control computers.
Christian Lang, Marketing Manager of DSM Computer, said: "For two years, we have also been concentrating on vertical markets, such as kiosk and digital signage systems. Because we expect a high sales growth in the mid-term in this area, we have consequently expanded and completed our product palette of innovative embedded computer systems for POI/POS applications."
DSM's 41 mm flat embedded PC module can be inserted without extensive wiring and without any additional power supply in a provided slot of a TFT display. To satisfy the requirements of the various applications, the PC module is available in various power classes with Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Mobile, Intel® Core™ Duo/Solo Mobile or Intel® Celeron™ M 440/530 processor. An externally accessible VGA interface also allows a second display to be controlled without requiring a computer plug-in module.
The robust PicoBox runs without fan and, thanks to its small dimensions of just 180 x 180 x 55 mm, can be installed flexibly in the POI/POS system. The control computer can be supplied in two performance variants and provides GigaBit LAN connections or two 10/100 Base TX interfaces. In addition to the VGA interface for connection of a display, USB 2.0 ports, serial outputs and a PS/2 interface provide a high degree of flexibility. Thanks to a separate interface panel, further interfaces can be made available externally. The high-quality PicoBox housing has space for a robust 2.5-inch hard disk.
For high-performance kiosk applications, the small 300 x 220 x 90 mm housing of the BookSize PCs available from DSM differ with regard to processor power and provided interfaces. Depending on the application, a 2.5-inch SATA or a 3.5-inch EIDE hard disk can be installed. The B7 BookSize computer based on the AMD® Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile TL-56 processor integrates an ATI Radeon X1250 VGA graphic card with VGA and DVI support and so is predestined for sophisticated POI/POS systems.
