DSM Computer presents its Embedded System with WLAN Connection
The 96M1557 embedded PC, which was presented by DSM Computer for the first time at embedded world 2006, is a member of the E4 NanoServer® family and has wireless communication capability. Designed for tough industrial applications, the machine is best suited to decentralized use as a control unit, measured value server or communications server. Its height of just 65 mm enables the 96M1557 to be easily mounted for example in the mounting rail version at all important process interfaces.
Depending on the requirements of the application, the fast version of the E4 NanoServer® is equipped with an Intel® Pentium® M processor, which has a frequency of 1.8 GHz. In the event that the performance of an Intel® Celeron® M (ULV) with a clock frequency of 1.0 GHz is sufficient, it is even possible to realize fanless operations within a specified operational temperature range of 0 to 40 °C.
Despite its slimline form, the E4 NanoServer® provides a free PCI slot for short cards, so that the customer can expand the computer in a flexible way. Inside the housing there is a 2.5-inch hard disk drive space. The system has a total of six USB 2.0 interfaces, of which two are external for the connection of a floppy disk drive and a CD/DVD ROM. Two PS/2 ports, two serial interfaces, one parallel interface and two IDE connections complete the range. A fast 10/100/1000 base TX LAN connection can be made via the integrated Intel® 82540EM module. A WLAN connection is optionally possible via an antenna on the front side.
The processors work together with an Intel® 82855 GME chipset, which in combination with the Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 VGA controller with MPEG 2 Decoder ensures high image quality. The Realtek ALC855 audio controller provides the desired audio functions. The main memory can be upgraded by means of adding 200/266/333 MHz DDR RAMs up to a maximum memory capacity of 1 GB.
Universal metal rails for space-saving mounting on floor or wall are supplied together with the high-quality, just 206 x 220 x 65 mm small industrial housing. All NanoServers® are CE certified and are subjected to a 48-hour burn-in prior to delivery. DSM Computer provides a one-year guarantee on the embedded PC.
