DSM Computer presents a slim-line embedded system from the NanoServer® family with an easy to maintain housing concept With the NanoServer® E8-A (96M1563) based on an Intel® Atom™ processor, DSM Computer AG has augmented its high-performance NanoServer® embedded system family with a particularly slim-line version (height: 58 mm). Its screwed-on base cover allows direct access to the hard disk, the Compact Flash (CF) socket, the memory expansions and the internal mini PCI Express x1 slot. This gives the customer fast access to the installed components, for example, in case of maintenance or for the final configuration of the CF. The high-performance NanoServer® E8-A is based on the power-saving Intel® Atom™ processor N270 with a 1.6 GHz clock rate and the Intel® 82945GSE chipset. The energy efficiency of the processor means a CPU fan can be omitted. Its computing power makes the E8-A predestined for use in the widest-range of applications, for example, not only in kiosk and POS/POI systems, but also in production engineering plants. Because the extremely compact NanoServer® E8-A does not provide any additional expansion slot, the embedded system already provides a wide range of different interfaces. Of the total of eight USB 2.0 ports, six connections are available externally and the other two internally. If required, the Intel® 82562ET 10/100 Base-TX LAN interface implemented as standard can be augmented with a faster Intel® 82574L 1000 Base-T LAN interface. As an option, Wireless LAN 802.11b/g can also be implemented. DVI, VGA and internal dual-channel LVDS are provided as graphic interfaces. The maximum resolution at 75 Hz sampling rate is 2048 x 1536 pixels. The power for the NanoServer® E8-A is supplied directly from the 12 V input or from an external 100 - 240 V AC power pack. If required, the system is also available with a 24 V DC input. The rugged, high-quality industrial housing of the E8-A has space for a robust EIDE or SATA II 300 2.5-inch hard disk. The embedded system with integrated temperature-controlled system fan is designed for operation in the 0° to +50° C temperature range.
