DSM Computer presents first embedded PC from the NanoServer E5 family
The NanoServer E5 embedded systems conceptualized for harsh industrial applications were presented by DSM Computer at the SPS/IPC/Drives 2005 trade fair. As distributed and independent client servers, the computers are used for example as controller units, measured value servers or communications servers.
When designing the new E5 family, much value was placed upon effective cooling, which enables fan-free operations despite high processor performance, even with fluctuations in the surrounding temperature. In addition, a side panel of the embedded systems was developed as a radiator.
The first member of the NanoServer E5 family (96M1556CL) is based on an Intel Celeron M processor with a clock frequency of 1.0 GHz. The main memory can be upgraded with 266/333 MHz DDR RAM up to 1 GB. The 2-VGA Extreme Graphics integrated into the Intel 82855 GME chip set supports a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels with an 85 Hz refresh rate. The audio functions are ensured via a Realteks ALC655 audio controller and an AC97 codec.
Two (or optionally six) USB 2.0 ports, two PS/2 ports, two serial and one parallel interface are available as PC interfaces. A 10/100/1000 base TX LAN connection can be made with the integrated 82540EM module. There is space for a 2.5-inch hard disk in the housing and connection of floppy and CD/DVD-ROM is possible externally via a USB 2.0 interface. In order to provide the highest possible flexibility, the NanoServer has two free upgrade slots for short PC cards. Depending on the power consumption of the customer-specific cards used, an internal fan is recommended as an option.
The power supply of the embedded PC is supplied directly via 12 VDC or via an external 70 W power supply with 100 to 240 VAC or a 50 W power supply with 18 to 36 VDC. The solid, high-quality industrial housing measures 220 x 220 x 110 mm and can be mounted by means of universal metal rails on the ground or wall. Depending on customer requirements, the chassis is available in all RAL and NSC colors.
DSM Computer provides a one-year guarantee for the CE-certified NanoServer E5. A 48-hour burn-in prior to delivery guarantees the high quality of the embedded PCs.
